2. It's weird. Chicks always think we're looking at their tits, but really most guys are hair men. mostly we are just looking down away from the hair when girls look at us, because we don't want to seem like we're staring at the sexy sexy locks.

Query

For some reason this popped into my head during one of the massage portions of my facial tonight:

For a marriage/wedding, would it be in any way wrong to request contributions to some charity in lieu of gifts? Is that only OK for funerals?

Don't worry Hanky Panky, I'm not getting married.

ETA and ncs, the heading is not anything relating to homosexuality.

No. F that. Costanza had it right - The Human Fund.

And no gifts. Cash.

Animal lovers?

I was just watching Return of the Jedi and something I hadn't noticed before came up. Once Chewie and the 2 Ewoks take over the walker thing, there is some real touching going on in the cockpit. Do you think Chewie tapped some of that at the party in Ewok village? Ewoks look pretty close to him, and people fuck midgets.

Non-home-schooling-related parent question

Maybe this belongs on the parents board, but what do y'all think of this...

We have decamped to a leafy glen for the summer, and before we left the hustle and bustle of TCOTU, I told my eldest boy that he had to pack and bring whatever gameboy etc. crap he wanted -- that it was his responsibility, and I reminded him what that meant -- i.e, the chargers, the games, whatever accoutrements go with the outrage that is electronic gaming.

So, upon reaching the leafy glade we call home for the summer, we learn that he's got the games and the little machines, but he's forgotten the chargers. Needless to day, a few days in, and no more electronic games.

There is an alternative -- his father can round up and bring the chargers, etc. on his next visit -- but should he???

Should I make him suffer the consequences of his inattention to detail? (FD: I hate those damned things -- I'd like him never to play them again, but he really does like that stuff, and it's a real ice-breaker with other 9-year-olds.) Or do I allow his dad to bring them up, to be put behind glass with a little hammer that says "Break only in case of emergency" (and forget to mention to the boy that emergency provisions are at hand)?

What say you, o wise chatboard readers?
Bitch. I'm glad you're not my Mom.

Etiquette question

So, what do you say when you see someone for the first time in a couple years and they have obviously and unavoidably enhanced? It's not the kind of enhancement one can avoid missing, and, indeed, absent shades I would assume the eye motion is telling. Do you just say hello and smile, or should one go out of the way to place a compliment?

Interesting that you assume he was talking about tits.

I may have been more comfortable if this were my initial comment rather than no one mentioning the presence of the elephants in the middle of room. However, I'm not sure I could have said it - they weren't particular nice, as they were patently and unnaturally large and of a round, squashed shape that was not particularly appealling.
