I've got myself a big ole patch of rhubarb but a kid with a strawberry alergy. What else do people combine with rhubarb besides strawberries?

I've done raspberries, which are quite good.

You can actually just have rhubarb on its own. We had a big rhubarb patch growing up, and I ate a lot of rhubarb crisp, as well as stewed rhubarb (lots of sugar is the key) and rhubarb jam (I don't know how that is made, but my mother managed it somehow).

I like rhubarb alone, but the kids like it with something sweet. It may be that when I do it alone I don't sweeten it much, but serve it alongside something else (good with chicken)

I have made banana chocolate chip bread pudding a number of times with a recipe from Fine Cooking -- is that the one you made? I've altered that same one to be cranberry orange and it is also delightful.

Maybe I'll make 2 desserts. A bread pudding and an ice cream cake with mint ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

I recently found a fantastic rhubarb recipe, which I'll dig out and post later. You cut it into four-inch lengths, toss it with a mixture of honey, lemon and the innards of a vanilla bean, and roast it. It is mild, there is no stringiness, and it is yummy.

My nephew has a golden retriever Remy that could manage this feat except that Remy was a little over exuberant in greeting my youngest niece when she was much younger and knocked her down. The niece still has such a fear of Remy that she has to be locked in her outside kennel so will be unavailable for cookie knocking.

And as mentioned before, I enjoy the cookies, just wanted something easy and different for dessert. I'm inspired by bread pudding and found the Fine Cooking recipe online. Now I just have to decide whether to make it with challah or croissants and whether it will be banana chocolate chip or almond triple berry. I'm leaning toward the triple berry though could end up deciding on almond raspberry instead of triple berry. Bread pudding is a family tradition though it was usually made with leftover bread and raisins.

This is very non-traditional, but the flavor profiles of rhubar and mango work surprisingly well together. Melon, too.
