OTOH, we outgained you something terrible.

Cooters should definitely serve Corn Dogs, SS. We can call it the Sebby.

My life has come full circle.
They are scarier and weirder-looking in the real picture. Caricaturing freaks is kind of pointless. Obviously Dick whoever is a moron.

Its horrible isnt it? He is a really bad caricaturist. And David Gest looks like Mr. Roper in the caricature.

Someone who loves the NYT more than those annoying fucking TV ad people.

Irving Tobin reads every word of the Times every day. Every word, every day, since 1975. Well, almost every word. He started skipping Sports, Escapes and Circuits when he fell two years behind in 1998. Now, he's only one year, five months, and four days behind, which places him in late June 2002.

Link to the New Yorker on the web.

I'm convinced that in Manhattan, mental illness lurks behind every corner. Those charming brownstones actually house compost piles of ancient newspapers and cat shit, plus other stuff that would make Slave's kitchen look like a Bil Keane cartoon.

Oddly, my FIL has the same quirk. Lucky for him, his shitty little local paper takes 12 minutes to read cover to cover.

Edited to add: Oops, he lives in Elizabeth, NJ. Mebbe NJ weirdos supply the newspapers and Manhattan brings up the cat shit average.

Requesting help

Save me from my shopping addiction.

Talk me down, people, from buying $160 worth of stuff on overstock.com. Granted, that includes a set of 600 thread count sheets and 14 DVDs, but (recite from card the Mr. gave me for just these instances) "even if it's a bargain, you're still spending money."

Help, I'm out of control. I feel a near overwhelming need to add "Canibal the Musical," too.

Buy the sheets. You will spend one third of your life sleeping/whatever on them for as long as they last so they're a reasonable investment. Unless they're cheap because they're really mislabeled substandard crap that fell off a truck in Uzbekistan.

Don't buy the DVDs. Even the obscure horror schlock ends up on cable eventually in one of those gross Halloween-night marathons.

I agree on the sheets, but caveat that anything under $200 is just not that much money. So long as you aren't doing it every day. Though, I don't see the point of buying DVDs -- how often does one watch those things, really? Maybe you all are bigger consumers of movies than I am.

I figure the purchase prices are cheaper than our average rental prices, once you add in late fees (inevitable in our household). Therefore, if I really want to see them they are worth it, even before the "loan them to your friends" benefit.

BR(But I've got to get better cable and get the Horror Channel and a huge box of tapes - it will probably save me a fortune in the long run)C

edited to add that a few of the DVD's I pegged I haven't found available for rental.

$160 is not that much. Buy it all. You'll feel good.

This weekend I seriously considered dropping $700 on a pair of boots. Now that's too much money, so I didn't. But now I wish I did. They were very nice boots.

Speaking of boots, what is with those Ugg boots that everyone is wearing? Why is everyone wearing their bedroom slipper boots on the street. Ugg-ly.

Buy the sheets, the prices are great. As far as DVDs join netflix.com. No late fees, they have all sorts of obscure dvds. 20 bucks a month, 3 dvds out at a time. You can pay to have more out or less to have fewer out.

I belonged to them for a while when I was watching a lot of movies, it was definitely worth it for avoiding late fees alone.

After returning unwatched movies two weeks late to blockbuster, I had to remind the errant renter that we only do netflix. It would have cost us less had we flown to NYC to see them in the theater.

Ugg-ly indeed. The Mr. and I were in Saks this weekend and saw about 6 pairs. (Oddly, the Mr. remarked on it before I did. Usually he only notices women's shoes when I start complaining about how far away the subway is.)

This too shall pass. Though, admittedly, when the weather gets ugg-ly, I'll bet they'll be more comfortable than I will be in my pointy boots.

BR(unless the things are so expensive they can't get them wet, I suppose ...)C

That's the silliest part. They're not water-resistant at all. Come snow we won't see them (unless the wearer is stupid).

Edited to note that I have been informed that they can be made water-resistant. So now there is egg on my face.
