"All in the Family."

Just barely ahead of "Full House", of course.

Oddly Enough - Reuters

A World Drinking Record
Fri Dec 19, 8:11 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!

RIGA, Latvia (Reuters) - Latvian police said a drunk picked up with around twice the blood-alcohol level considered deadly had probably set a world record but would wake with a hangover to match.

The unidentified middle-aged man was unconscious but stable after a blood test showed 7.22 parts per million of alcohol, police spokeswoman Ieva Zvidre said.

An average person would vomit at around 1.2, lose consciousness at 3.0 and stop breathing at a level of about 4.0 parts per million, Zvidre said, adding: "This is one for the Guinness Book of Records."

The hospital's emergency ward head Martins Sics told reporters there was no record of anybody having survived such a dose, even in neighboring Russia which takes pride in its vodka-guzzling traditions.

"He won't remember a thing when he comes to," Sics said.

I guess you could go out and buy a boatload of aspirin/ibuprofen theraflu and other OTC drugs that are covered.

So many TV jokes; perfect encapsulation of the era; strong performers giving strong performances. Set the bar for family comedies, whacky neighbors, multiple sets, etc. Took "I Love Lucy" and made it useful to all that was to follow. I'm still trying to recreate that living room, and I'm still willing to bang MTM.
I have to vote for Barney Miller. Every character on that show was an absolute gem, and each actor played him or her perfectly. The scripts were masterpieces of comedic timing and wit. There is not a single bad episode.

I love the Dick Van Dyke Show, and the cast was great (Carl Reiner's character is one of the funniest ever created). But the show, like Madonna in Like a Virgin, is fixated on Dick.

My vote goes to Sha Na Na. Totally underappreciated camp. They were like The Village People of the doo wop set. Nothing better to watch on a Saturday afternoon before Hee Haw.

The stated purpose of the quiz is to find the perfect gift for someone who is impossible to shop for. I cannot say how accurate it is, and I am not purchasing the recommended $13,000 go-kart.
The suggestion of a theatre subscription really was a pretty good one, and for a bit less than $13K. Thanks, SS.

Merry Xmas All!

Are we including variety shows? Then "The Carol Burnett Show."

Just barely ahead of "The Donny and Marie Show", of course.

I did the same (but only to the tune of about $250). New supply of contact lenses and two acupunctures and I'm done. However, I have publication 502 on my desk and can tell you that birth control pills, artificial limbs, artificial teeth, christian science practitioners and osteopath visits all qualify, if any of those tickle your fancy.

Or just go on the irs.gov website and get your own copy of publication 502. I'm sure you will find something. (note, the publication specifically says that dancing lessons are not covered, even if a doctor recommends them. in case you were wondering)

two pairs of really nice glasses?

what about a couple of vats of advil and other OTC drugs you might use.

or maybe you can get your doctor to prescribe an ergonomic chair for your back. Aerons run around $600 right?

You're right. I should have limited myself to sitcoms. While I loved BJ & The Bear, I'm going to have to go with The Duke of Hazzard because of the predominance of Cooters.

The chair is an excellent idea. Also, for some reason I've got this pain in my right hand that seems to be exacerbated by using the mouse. Although its cause is a mystery, maybe I could get a scrip for a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Off to irs.gov I go.

The problem is, I don't really need glasses, except for when I play repressed phi beta kappa law review fed clerk who unbuns her hair, removes her glasses, and ... well you know the rest.

Slave is about to reenact the entire story arc of "Felicity." Including, of course, The Shearing.
