Penske --

Other islands have microclimates, too. E.g., the west side of Hawaii is dry dry dry, but the city of Hilo on the NE side is one of the wetter places in the country.

Thurgreed --

What he did was every bit as stupid as MJ, but no one cares, a symptom of this country's long-standing bias against things Australian. Whatever happened to Crocodile Dundee and Subarus? But if What's His Name is sedating those crocs, I have a whole new respect for him.

Not Bob --

Jane Wiedlin rocks. I wish I could see the video of the song she did with Sparks. Or maybe I'm happier just remembering it.

We had a guy like that in Corporations. Short. Fat. Ugly. Arrogant.

He would sit in the middle of the room (stadium seating) leaning back in his chair with his feet on the table. He wouldn't raise his hand to participate, he would just blurt out things like: "That can't be right. There is no way that someone could pierce the corporate veil in such a scenario." He was a real piece of shit.

Paging Flower

The flowery jams and hawaiian shirts are not flattering on a man of your, er, size. Maybe its time for some pork rinds?

The biggest tool at my law school drove a new black convertible corvette with vanity plates reading "corp law," carried a briefcase with laptop (considered extremely toolish when I was in school) everywhere he went, and carried a cell phone (also considered extremely toolish).

Since I was a class behind Not Bob and Bilmore, the words laptop and cell phone cannot properly describe the hugeness of his equipment.

Sadly, he was kinda hot for a law student.

strange classmates

The one that really sticks out is this woman who I think had been institutionalized at some time. I think this because she asked my opinion about people who had been committed being allowed to take the bar in the state my school was in. During our first year, torts, we had a discussion on the thin skull plaintiff. The hypos got wackier and wacker until the conversation turned to a case in which someone was driven crazy by construction outside his home. The class found this funny and started to laugh. This woman stood up, shouted something about mental illness not being funny, and stormed out of the classroom in tears. We all just sat there in stunned silence.

I had some odd experiences teaching too. The strangest was this woman who wouldn't write the paper the length it was supposed to be, and then after I practically wrote the damn thing for her, still wouldn't do it. (It wasn't even graded.) She then informed the dean she wanted to leave my class because I was discriminating against her. In discussing it (no one took her seriously) people wanted to know, in most cases wouldn't I be the one who tends to get discriminated against? I just shrugged.

But what is really odd, is that these two women looked a lot alike.

He got into a fight with our ancient torts prof (a big law and economics guy) during which he personally attacked the guy and told him that his 45 years of research on the subject were crap and that there is no place in the world for law and economics analysis. Every single guy in my class wanted to beat the shit out of this clown.

But I guess it all worked out, as he did very poorly grade-wise (and blind grading system, so sucky grades were not purely out of professor spite) and I'm not sure he ever got a job practicing law.
We had a 40-something yr old man attend the international program at my law school. At the host school, we had access to our own little internet/email room. We only had one key to the room, and for some reason, this guy ALWAYS had it, and would not give it to anyone else. He was always the first person in the room (there were only 4 computers), and he showed no courtesy to those waiting to use a computer. Finally, someone noticed that he left the key on his desk during a break in class. I took it. After class, he noticed he didn't have it. I walked up to the room, with everyone behind me, and opened the door. He proceeded to a) take the key from me; then b) jump ahead of everyone else and sit down. I pulled him back up, took back the key, and told him that neither the room nor the key were his and his only, but all of ours. He tried to sit back down again. I told him that he'd "better get the fuck back in line like everyone else." As he tried to get passed again, I pushed him out the door. He proceeded to go straight to our American professor's office, who hated him as much as we need (he did many many other annoying things). The prof and I laughed about it. The other students, at first, congratulated me. Afterwards, while getting drunk, they made fun of me all night (jokingly) as the guy who picked a fight and basically assaulted an older, smaller man and to pick on someone my own size...

Anyway, like all international programs, those classes have really come in handy: "Wow! You know continental European law??...well we NEED someone with that knowledge!!"

Yeah, the tool I described above was also a big laptop user. I was going to mention that as part of his utter toolishness, but I recognized that discussing that now just illustrates that I am old....

Not officially, no. But if scratch the surface you find Frank Perdue is Atkin's brother in law.

*not sure that is the official name of it, but whatever the one where you connect dots to form boxes and then put your initial in the boxes that you've formed.

I am concerned about Curb. The whole Doctor's office scence was forced, almost cliched "Larry getting himself into something."
His problems always came up organically in the past.

Laptops were standard by the time I went to law school, and I found that the most irritating thing related to them was the woman (there was always one) with long nails who click click clicked away during class.

I think nails that are long enough to hit the keys are tacky, anyway, but when it's that noisy, it's just plain rude. While you're at it, go ahead and snap your gum and put on lots of jangly bangle bracelets and wear too much Giorgio. And good luck not being mistaken for a receptionist at your law firm.
