I have never been to the Mouse. Not on the east coast, not on the west coast, not in Europe. And I was born and raised in the USA and we didn't live on a commune and we did have TV and stuff and I wasn't home-schooled or anything anti-mainstream culture like that.

*sigh* I was forced, forced I say!, to buy a shitload of new shoes last summer because of a new departmental rule banning open toed shoes. My toes could not go free. It sucked.

Doesn't it depend on what the marketing is you're talking about? No, it's not likely that an hispanic singer is going to have an inherent appeal (because of race) to a black audience, etc., but ads that incorporate minorities, generally, as opposed to whites only, seem to have a stronger effect on minority groups' purchasing behavior. So, if you're AI and want to balance things out and create diverse appeal for the show and compilation albums, it seems like such a strategy isn't laughable.

I may go to Vegas or an occasional weekend of carousing with the guys or to conferences, etc. She's goes to similar things with her girlfriends, including Vegas (suffice to say we have different interests in Vegas). Anything of any duration longer than a long weekend we go together. No trust issues, and we know and like everyone the other goes with...
That said I have friends who do go on separate vacations. One goes to the north woods of Canada for a week fishing with his buddies. From what I understand, his wife has no interest, goes somewhere else during the year with her friends, and they still vacation together...
2. 2 kids. They stay at home with the non-vacationing spouse unless we're visiting family. We take our oldest to places appropriate for his age occasionally. Our youngest is too young to know what's going on... The pilgimage to see The Mouse is still a couple of years off.
3. Spouse stays home, and has her hands full, let me tell you...
|
I realized my earlier answer was, well, wrong. We've taken separate vacations, but only in the sense that visiting one's family can be called a vacation. The "vacating" person takes at least one kid.

I need some clarification. Is it every Wednesday that is "pile on ltl/fb day," or just the fourth Wednesday of the month, or is it a 25th of the month thing?

My wife and I would like a stay-at-home wife, too. With both of us working, the thought of having someone at home cooking and cleaning and ironing and taking care of kids and having the energy to do the sex brings a twinkle to our eyes, even when the rest of us is melting across the sofa in the early evening like a Dali painting. But we both work way to much to meet people -- maybe one of us might meet someone, but how are we both going to meet someone? The one bright side is, living in the Bay Area, we have high hopes that our municipal government will soon recognize this sort of relationship. The way things are going, how could they not?

Are minorities considered part of the same demographic and therefore interchangeable? If the person is hispanic, will other minorities rush out to by their album? Are the white people who watch sick of white girls and big, fat black guys already?
I understand that they can diversify their Idol portfolio to increase their market share. But it's weird to think that signing a minority (as opposed to a black or asian or hispanic) female fills some type of void.

Do they have some sort of mentoring program?

but that ad campaign does have different ads targeted to the african american community vs the hispanic community. there is not one single minority campaign, which is, I think, TM's point.
I could even tell you more than you want to know about some of the ads in that particular campaign because one of my friends does post-production work for McDonalds.
and now you have that annoying song running through my head (the hispanic version though).
