 | No, it just seem very "fred" to bandy about an insider term without knowing the source of it. that's all. |

Leon Weiseltier of The New Republic rips off wonk's line about "Passion" being a snuff file -- although "sacred snuff film" is a nice ring to it: Torture has been depicted in film many times before, but almost always in a spirit of protest. This film makes no quarrel with the pain that it excitedly inflicts. It is a repulsive masochistic fantasy, a sacred snuff film, and it leaves you with the feeling that the man who made it hates life.

Wonk, call him now to demand your share of his royalties.

 | Timmy is no longer an insider term. It is so widely used that it is mentioned in the tag line to the language board. Seriously you and TM are being worse about this shit than anyone today. Step off. |

Oh, for fuck's sake. Yes, we all know that you were on the boards before electricity was invented, and that makes you oh-so-much more important than everyone else. Get over yourself already.

"Timmy" is not an "insider term." It's a term that's acquired a life of its own, with a meaning that's at least a couple of steps removed from the original Comma Chaser post (which maybe four people who still post here were around to witness, myself not included).

That said, for those who've never seen it, that post was brilliant. Perhaps Slave could re-post it here, as he did once on Infirmation. It's well worth reading -- it's so good that it makes Paigow a thing of greatness simply because she was there to see it. Really. I mean that. |

I bet SS owns Starbucks, b/c they are taking over the world.

Has Starbucks ruined NYC too? All the cafes in Chicago have disappeared. Still some great ones left, but my Fred...

And now I have to deal with them when I'm in Paris? I hate them and their addicting coffee that tastes like burnt cow shit.
 |
Could not agree more on all counts, esp. the burnt cow shit. They have ruined London (one on every corner) and are fast destroying NYC. |

 | Ah. The courage that being a mod, admin or ruler of this board brings. I love watching the change in personalities each poster goes through when they get a stupid little title and the power to edit someone else's post.

Step off? The last time I heard this, Bobby Brown could sell records (and "from the trunk of his car" doesn't count).

paigowprincess: it just occurs to me that "timmy" is a really stupid fucking tmer and the only reasons it is widely used is bc it conveys a asense of being in the loop, if you will, when reawlly, the blind use of it is anything but being in the loop. its downright outre. right?

Sidd, you are maddeningly drunk with power ever since you became a moderator or admin or whatever it is you are now. Just step off,* and let paigow continue to make Shape Shifter feel like a hatchling already. It's Friday. Eh? What's that? You're a partner, not a moderator? Sorry, never mind.

* Seinfeld reference, pursuant to the Holy Mores And Traditions Of This Board, by which I mean this and other boards, for those who haven't had enough caffeine this morning to keep up with the repartee around here.
