[UN Soldiers exploting woman in the Congo]

This in no way absolves those idiots in Iraq, but I wonder whether this will get 1/10 of the press.

Speaking of kinky, the erotic nature of Islam continues to be devulged in follow up to the Abu Grub story. I was listening to Hannity's radio show last week and he detailed the story of an Iraqi who US troops arrested for raping and murdering a mom and her two young daughters (of course the mainstream US liberal media scum don't cover this type of story as it does not reflect negatively on the US, republicans or Bush).

Anyway, the accused gets a high-priced Islamic trial lawyer cum cleric who asserts that the sharia dictates that Islamic men may indeed rape woman with the appropriate justice being that if she doesn't fight back hard enough, she wanted it and is guilty of whoring and must be killed. If she fights back too hard and castrates or kills the attacker, she must be killed.

Add this to the precepts that marrying 9 year olds is okay as well as polygamy and it looks like Islam is one sex-crazy religion.

As an aside, true story, I was once in the UAE (and contrary to defamatory rumors I did not kiss a camel) for a deal and an Islamic woman came into a room I was in where there were no other seats. Being a gentleman I rose to give her my seat but she demurred. When I "insisted" one of the Islamic men in the room forcefully rebuked my kindness and dismissed the woman. I later found out that these crazy radicals have a rule that a muslim woman may not sit in a chair recently vacated by a man because the residual warmth could induce a state of orgasmic delite and/or frenetic lust.

I don't think any of us want to walk that walk Hank.

What's more, it's an integral component of Not Me's "good for a chuckle" campaign. So let's leave it, and don't forget to laugh!

[UN Soldiers exploting woman in the Congo]

This in no way absolves those idiots in Iraq, but I wonder whether this will get 1/10 of the press.
Yesterday, when you were arguing that the UN couldn't run Iraq, you explained that the UN doesn't have troops of its own. Today, though, it's "UN soldiers," not Moroccan and Uruguayan soldiers, exploiting women in the Congo.

Unclear what this has to do with "idiots" in Iraq. I suspect that prostitution doesn't usually bother you that much, so I guess this is just an excuse to beat up on the UN.

Ty, its prostitution because they have the people at their mercy. A kindler international organization would have provided some other means of survival.

I did not realize that club was arguing that the UN should be doing more around the world for people who are so poor that they turn to prostitution. I take it you would support a tax increase so we can give more money to the UN to pay for that?

Well, since these soldiers are probably not too numerous, the amount of money that would be required to take away the need probably isn't too much. doesn't the UN have some humanitarian programs? Is the sole purpose to give diplomats cool Manhatten digs, and their relatives access to slush funds?

Well, yes, but wasn't there a contrast between "raping children" and "sex with female prisoners" that was discussed on here w/r/t Iraqi prisons?

And, like Ty, I am confused as to whether or not there are UN soldiers who can do anything. If the UN is so wussy, how do they have anyone "at their mercy"? Goodness, this is so confusing.

So the poverty that these Africans are in only bothers you if there are Moroccan and Uruguayan soldiers nearby, but otherwise you're happy to ignore it?

Club is going to chime in momentarily to tell us that there are no UN soldiers, and that Uruguay and Morocco have invaded the Congo or something.

Didn't he refer to them as UN soldiers? I am perfectly willing to believe that the soldiers have been sent there by their respective gov'ts and are funded by their respective governments, but he called them UN soldiers.

I guess it's like how when there is a D in the executive office and an R congress, all that is good comes about because of congress and all that is bad because of the president. When it's an R president and a D congress, it is mysteriously vice versa.

I think I have said that before. Or, I'm having inappropriate deja vu again.

Oh fringe, we drift further apart.....

its like this. You know how you are always holdingyou own and winning arguments on fashion? well there you're like Moroccan soldiers outside some African refugee camp- you're the law baby!!! go screw them single mommies!

Then you come here, and you're like the Brazilains or whatever that went running when you saw the al Queda connected sadr guys coming at you. You may stand up for a second, but you ain't delecting the fire that will rain down on you.

Hope this helps!
