We know why you want all of this stuff. But why you want all of this stuff was not the question. The question is why anybody believed, in multiple independent societies, at essentially parallel parts of the societal evolution, that the Mountain had just spoken to the premodern equivalent of the Village Slacker and annointed him Messenger.
