I'm not saying you shouldn't do it because it's a nice thing to do. I'm saying it because it should be done by PM or IM. If you're telling the world it's someone's birthday, but can't say who because that would out them, what's the point in telling the world? And it usually brings up a bunch of "Happy Birthday, whoever you are" responses from the dim-witted as well.

But if you don't want boring back and forth on [insert controversial topic here], why did you become a lawyer? Isn't that what we do (minus the controversy most times) all day at work? You have to assume it'll happen here.

That said, I disagree with you. I like the back and forth. I like to see where people stand and I like to read posts about topics that people actually care about. It often gets out of hand (yeah, I notice the glare I'm getting from all of you fuckers), but that's the price we pay for expressing our opinions.

What exactly do you want on this board if you eliminate controversial topics? And don't say fashion.
