I don't know -- I mean, I'm no litigator, but David Boies wears the cheapest suits imaginable (or at least he used to). When I worked down the hall from him (which was more years ago than I care to remember), rumor was that they were from Sears. I remember a particularly horrid brown polyester one.
He was (is) a pretty successful litigator, too. I guess if the smarts are there in abundance, maybe it really doesn't matter what you're wearing.
I just kept that last bit of what you wrote in there, because it never fails to amuse me.
