BTW, can I get a ruling on Rufus Wainwright? I don't want to invest too much of my street cred in a guy who sounds like Thom Yorke singing the Tom Waits Songbook on Broadway, but truth be told I've liked what I've heard, especially "California" and "Oh What a World." Is he the gay k.d. lang?
OTOH, overly confessional stuff like "Gay Messiah," "Vibrate" and "Art Teacher" makes me think he's overconfident in his songwriting skillz. "My phone's on vibrate for you"? What the Christ?
