At the end of last night's coverage, Costas did something like Jerry Springer's Final Thought, where he scolded the dopers and reminded them that the ancient Greeks forced their cheaters to pay a fine, with which funds a statue of Zeus was built at the base of Mount Olympus, with each cheater's name inscribed at the base for the cheaters' collective eternal shaming. Eternal? Where is that statue today, Bob? Greece couldn't even keep the Parthenon marbles --- they lost them to Scotland after losing another game of For Keeps to the hated Turk.
Somehow I don't like the idea of taking blood and urine samples and freezing them in a bank in case the future provides more accurate testing. It would make every medal awarded provisional. That said, I have a tough time believing
anyone in track and field isn't juicing with something.
