I have one in that style and like it and find it very easy to use. A friend just got one in that style and thinks it's much, much easier to use than the kind where the arms go up as you twist the screw into the cork, and then you push them down to pull out the cork.

I have found with mine (don't know what brand it is) that it is more difficult to use with plastic corks than on cork corks. I don't think I've used any other type of corkscrew on a plastic cork, though, so that may be just generally true of plastic corks.
