Translation needed

TM and RP: Fair enough, but, in the last decade, I've only ever heard Archie Bunker-type rednecks called Latinos "Spanish" unless they actually were. No Chicago-area Latinos, educated or not, would do so. The only NY and TX Latinos I know are young and educated, so I don't know if it's common or accepted among older Latinos who have less education or who are less assimilated, etc.

It's always grated as being inaccurate, too, but whatever.
