Maybe the friend was talking about
The Tongue, a device advertised in the back of Cosmo magazine. The advertisement was amusing in itself because it was a small black and white square and the graphic on it was of a woman sitting in profile as if she were appearing on an 18-wheeler's mudflap. Someone else on this board must have seen this ad at some point in her life.
