Well, the re line ("Not Bob & Friends") sounds vaguely like I am Carol Burnett, and y'all are Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, and Harvey Koreman.
"The play" refers to that baseball post of Thurgreed's. I am agreeing with his assessment of the play, and also as to why it wasn't made out to be a big deal.
"Leiter" is the name of the pitcher that the Yankees recently signed. He was released by the Marlins because he wasn't doing too well, perhaps because of his age. Yet he pitched well against the Red Sox.
"The extra zero" is the typo that Thurgreed corrected -- I said "$20 million" instead of "$200 million." (This is an example of why I am not a transactional lawyer.)
