I recently heard that many people believe Truman Capote actually wrote To Kill a Mockingbird. Of course it is common knowledge that Dill was based on Capote. But supposedly Capote wrote it and gave it to Harper Lee, who never published anything again because she couldn't possibly match it. I guess studies have been done comparing his writing style in his other work with that of Mockingbird that backs this theory up.

Has anyone else heard this? Anyone have a site debunking, supporting or further exploring?

Capote frequently implied that he himself had written a considerable portion of the novel, and at least one person, Pearl Kazin Bell, an editor at Harper's who cited Lee's failure to produce another novel, has gone on record supporting his co-authorship.
