Ha ha, I got this from a site called "legalmatch.com" -- legal, match, get it?
Texas just passed its Open Container Law while we lived there. I find it hard to believe that you and NFH are so astounded by this. People routinely carried a warm-up drink with them when we went out in Big D (both before and after passage of said law). I've never particularly cared about doing so, but it is a pervasive practice.

When I was growing up, I'm pretty sure it was legal for the driver to have an open container in Indiana, as long as s/he wasn't over the legal limit.
