If this person's younger sister died, would he/she do something to remember that person, such as pay some funeral expenses? But this person did not yet make such a payment? In that case, I would advise her to contribute to funeral expenses because she cares for the sister, tell the father so much, and ask to which cemetary/headstone company she should send her contribution.
If he/she hated the sister, then I'd tell them all to suck it.

It's not so much the money or the fact of contributing to defray expenses. It is the attempt to cash in MY LIFE INSURANCE POLICY without my knowledge. And the fact that contact was made with me for the sole purpose of asking me for money.
