This reminds ME of a "news" factoid I heard the other day (for only one reason, I believe, and that reason is that mallomars are candy*). Apparently Americans eat 26
pounds of candy on average for Halloween. Is that unbelievable to you? It is to me, so I didn't trust my memory. I googled and found this (albeit 1999) article that says as much:

I thought maybe I was misremembering and subbing in pounds for grams or some such thing (hey, measuring units is not my forte), but it turns out I remembered right. Egads.
*I am reminded for reason number 2 - it is Halloween time of year - but that has nothing to do with dtb or mallomars.
