Don't go off on a tangent and act like it is the main aspect of the discussion -- and yes, I see it's a footnote. The point I was making was that they essentially cut a tomato and an onion three times and act like they've done something. The "acting like they've done something" includes the ridiculous price for the slicing.
No one is arguing that people who go to a steakhouse are comparing the prices on everything and trying to see which appetizer gives them the best value. As an overall point, I don't know why one would pass up the other appetizers in favor of a tomato. Maybe one is in the mood for a tomato. I don't know. But these idiots who sit around and spout off about how amazing the thick cut tomato and onion salad are look like jackasses to me.
And I've tasted these salads. They are not amazing or at least they were not amazing when I tried them. They were tomatoes and onions and tasted like tomatoes and onions.
