"Nixonland" is a land of slander and scare. Since the column points to many things the press has said about Clinton, and none that Obama has said about Clinton, I think it's fair to conclude that his piece is about how the national press is treating the Clintons. He doesn't actually say anything about Obama or the Obama campaign, rather about "Obama supporters," from whom he sees "venom" and who are "happy" about the wrong things.
The obvious point of the piece is that Obama supporters should not be pleased with how the national media has applied "'Clinton rules' — the term a number of observers use for the way pundits and some news organizations treat any action or statement by the Clintons, no matter how innocuous, as proof of evil intent." While the column says nothing about Obama or his campaign, most of the column is about things the press say.

Dude, Slave's take is quite reasonable. I've read the thing and the caveats you note don't undo the general thrust of the piece, particularly considering it in the context of everything else that fat little prick has said about Obama in the past several months.
