Modern Day Cinematic Analogues? - POLL?

Interesting reasoning, and I would agree to a certain extent. Mel Gibson is probably a good choice. Russell Crowe is actually probably better (I'm thinking of his turn in L.A. Confidential here).

I'm always sort of befuddled by the sex appeal of Bogart. Maybe a woman could explain that to me. I think the male role requires a bit more in the way of world-weariness, and a hint of danger, which Bogart had in spades. As much as I hate Nicolas Cage, he has been quite good in some of his roles, and probably has the ability to carry a Bogart-like role off because of those two qualities.

As far as the female role, I think your reasoning is spot on. Wonk's choice of KS-T is very interesting, but as I was reading the posts, Paigow brought up a name that I really started wondering about in an entirely different context. What about Nicole Kidman?
