Actually, I blame Chunky Soup, which has joined the ranks of SI (Kerry Wood on cover last week most recent example) and EA Sports (Randy Johnson, Michael Vick and Dany Heatley on video game covers this year) as the leading sports marketing jinxers.
Kurt Warner (benched, and still married to Cruella de'Vil), Terrell Davis (out of game), Michael Strahan (slumping), Brian Urlacher (dating Paris). I rest my case.
