This may not serve to convince Sebby, but it seems that Elizabeth Smart wanted to play herself in the TV movie and when the producers rejected her, asked her parents "Why didn't they want me?"
Poor kid. Too bad her parents didn't just nix the idea from the very beginning, then they could have consoled her by saying "We would never have permitted such an intrusion into your personal life, honey."
