Seems like a pretty bad idea. The last thing I'd want if I were not a Rockefeller, or du Pont, or whatever, is to be thought to be one on the basis of my last name, and have to put up with the charitable solicitations and the expectation that lunch is always on you because, hey, you're a rockefeller.

Overall, it seems divorced women often keep their exes names, like ncs's mom--for the kids, or because the hassle of changing is just too great. Anyone dealt with SSA of late? Minimizing your dealings with them is to be encouraged.
