I agree that it does not present "powerful" women -- I never said it did -- in fact, part of its appeal was exactly that -- each one of them was flawed, just like IRL. They all made mistakes, tried different things, and were all "looking for love" (which is cliched, but, in my experience, not so far off what many women are looking for -- and men too, but that's not what this show was about.)

It makes women look like utter unlikable idiots.

Well, we just disagree. I liked them. I didn't think they were idiots. I thought their conversations were pretty true-to-life in terms of their subject matter and level of candor (cf. what I'm about to say below), except they were funnier than most people are IRL.

And the show - on the whole - just pissed me off. On their salaries, how the fuck did they get to live where they did. Carrie wouldnt be able to afford to pay that rent, let alone eat.

That is true. But again, SO?!?!? Of course Carrie couldn't afford her wardrobe and shoe collection. Duh! Since when does a television show have to be accurate down to the last detail? And who has so much time to hang around and go shopping, go out every night, find new guys every week, and hang out with their friends non-stop? Of course those aspects were unreal, but - shit (hi Atticus!) - it's a tv show. The fantastical element does not detract from its merits.
