Motive. Although I guess we can never truly explain why we like something and don't like something else, unless we are consciously purchasing something b/c we know others will like it.
I have no idea why my favorite color is blue. Or why I like artichokes. I hope it's not b/c I'm trying to exhibit my individuality.
