If it's Feb. 1, in the unlikely event that they can you immediately, you are probably still set for a month of insurance coverage before having to kick in payments through COBRA, assming you don't have an alternative lined up. Needless to say, this is a good reason to make your end date at the begining, rather than the end of a month. It's just easier for them to pick up the tab on the month than to figure out the paperwork on providing insurance for a partial month.

I may have done this recently. Twice.

Edit: STP. Fuck it. I'm on vacation. I shouldn't be talking to you people at all. On the plus side, though, in another week: more pie.
