Please sir, I want some?

eta I almost posted all of the lyrics to "food glorious food" but restrained myself. In part because it's a long-ass song.

*Which isn't surprising since, when I was in Japan, I was told by a connoisseur that sushi and sashimi are more about texture than flavor.
1. Why is fishy tasting bad? I like fishy tasting. If I want something not fishy tasting, I'll have steak.

2. I am no connoisseur, and thankful of that, since it allows me to enjoy the taste of sushi, which is pretty good.

when you were a kid, did you have nightmares from the orphanage "no food for hungry kids" scene?

They're a bit gimicky, although the almond ears are yummy. The rest of the chocolates are truly amazing.

Name a better cut of sushi/sashimi.
Tai
Escolar
Saba
Aji
Hamachi
Bonito
Hirame
Shiro Maguro

I'm also partial to Ankimo and Uni, but I would throw them in the "other" category.

Toro is for those folks finally stepping up from the California roll

This is really hard

50 dark/scary movies in the images from M&Ms. It's taken most people I know at least an hour to find them all.

Paisley, I disagree with you on the Scharffenberger. I had heard good things about it from folks like you, but then I bought about six different kinds of 70% chocolate at my local gourmet grocer and did a side-by-side tasting. Next to the various varieties of Valrhona, etc., the Scharffenberger was nasty.

And I remembered the one kind of fruit I will do with chocolate: bananas. But only in banana splits or in this really killer chocolate chunk banana bread pudding I made one time.

And last, I am the person who won't eat the chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. Walnuts are the only kind of nuts I don't absolutely adore--they're almost as bad as the chocolate oranges when it comes to abomination. Chocolate chip cookies are much better with toasted pecans. Mmmmmmm.

tm

eta that milk chocolate goes along with underbaked cookies in defining American "taste." Too sweet, no oomph.
I am more than willing to be shown the error of my ways with better chocolate. Actually, I agree on preferring Valhrona. I just love those cute little Nibby Bits Sharffenberger bars - they are super yummy. I can't resist the impulse buy whenever I'm at Sur La Table.

I feel the exact same way about Tomoe sushi here in New York. Non-descript, hole-in-the-wall. Best sushi (and possibly, food) I've ever had.

TM
Sushi Yasuda on E 43rd (?) could be the best in the City. Bring an expense account, though.

I always preferred Yama to Tomoe.

If, indeed, PLF and Hank are in charge of the welcoming committee, we should give them the freedom to let it all hang out.

I'll do anything
For you dear anything
For you mean everything to me

I know that I'll go anywhere
For your smile, anywhere --
For your smile, ev'rywhere --
I'd see

Yesterday, cheesesteak, today, sushi.
Hopefully GWNC is tied up in a meeting or you'll end up with a cock in your mouth this afternoon.
