No. None. I live in a cave, on Mars.
School teachers will not be furloughed (at least not here). They threw a fit when NJ suggested making them work for the summer. Professors will lose loads of jobs. But they've not grasped that reality yet. They expect Big Education is coming back just as it was before because they've had such a stranglehold on consumers, and had such pricing power, for so long. They can't conceive of a reality where they don't get tenure, paid sabbaticals, and raises year after year. Those are worries of the lowly adjuncts.
ETA: Regarding your last point about how things will stay the same, here's Scott Galloway on the popping of the education bubble: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020...f-college.html
You can hear Galloway and Kara Swisher discuss it in depth on Pivot, their podcast (which is very entertaining and almost always fucking awesome): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...=1000474333555

This new world is an introvert's (or misanthrope's) delight. And I think it might be far more egalitarian. Removing the office removes a lot of the political games which allow less talented people to move up the ladder.
It's also a fantastic development for the environment. Imagine the increase in air quality accruing from a decrease in commuter traffic.
However, I do not like my basement workout. Old school iron free weights definitely increase strength more effectively than machines. But they require I remain in my home, which exposes me to being interrupted by family. I went to the gym to get away for an hour and a half. (I also can't shoot the shit with judges or local business people in my basement.)

If my people get hauled downtown to prove up medical records when they can just zoom in going forward, I'm going to be really pissed.
Also, it's going to be really hard going forward to get my docs to agree to go to trial for anything when they can zoom instead.

Sad, yes I will eventually burn through my million miles (spread out over numerous programs -- dick move) but it is kind of nice to finish a dep and go right to the basement.

Every Friday over the last three years the NY Mets gave away a free T shirt. I never missed a game or a Tshirt. My wife absolutely excoriated me "MORE T-SHIRTS???" But guess what I have worn for the last three months every day?

Thank goodness the judges I regularly appear before have bought into the virtual appearance/"on submission" approach.

I set the tone already. I sent an email saying "I am taking the Google shift Do. Not. Expect to see my face until 2021. It is over. "

Start early. Before they know what's going on.

Already started. Right at the start of the pandemic we had a doctor who was to be deposed by some people in WA when WA was the first cluster. The WA lawyers expected to get on a flight but he gave a healthy and hearty "Hell no" and the dep proceeded virtually.

I got one theory in this: I can run without a mask and not infect people, especially if I stay away from them. Oh, wait, one more, my other theory is my practice is fucked for the foreseeable future.

A lot of names got Americanized along the way. Not mine, but lots.

I wear a gaiter so that I can pull it up so folks don't feel uncomfortable. Running with a wet gaiter is right up there with waterboarding. But I have dropped my HR a bunch and picked up my pace.

HR means what? Also does your firm need a guy (me) who is willing to do only the high excitement deps and court time, and pass the boring shit off? I may have some bandwidth to work my poetry for your clients!!!

1. Heart rate.
2. There is a very steep learning curve. Let's say 7-10 years. It will be over by then.
3. All deps are defending deps of sick old people or asking questions of not sick old people who worked for a company who may have made something that contained something. So thank you but you're overqualified.

Why? So you can pay more tuitions? It's not like your kids will be able to afford to pay them.
