Okay so in the amicable split, Mr. Sock got the large screen TV, the paltry amount of savings and various other manly things (except he got the cat which isn't really manly); and I got to keep the china and the diamond engagement ring/earrings. Now that I need to sell it, I am freaking b/c the local jewerly store said they'll give me $3,500 for the both of them, yet the appraisal on the engagement ring alone was almost 9K in the mid nineties. I was hoping for more. I know that if I sell to the end user/buyer I will probably get more, but I'm skeptical about selling it on ebay. What if the buyer claims he didn't get it and sues me? Is there some escrow agent or something we use?

Any ideas on how a ring would sell if it's a very classic emerald cut (excellent clarity) with emerald cut baguettes on each side, total amount of carats about 1 1/2, in a platinum setting? Anybody wanna buy a ring?

Concur. See, e.g., Lindsay Lohan as seen on Leno.

Speaking of whom, she's got to be doing at least a pack a day to have that voice at 17.

Even worse than the people living in Fucking Colorado are the stupid Texans who vacation there every year despite the total disdain that the Fucking Coloradians have for them. Overheard every fucking December and June in elevators all around Dallas are asshole partners discussing the condos they've rented in Beaver Fucking Creek. Just shoot me already.

Is there an award for excellent use of the word Fucking? If not, there should be.

The above is the Fucking of the Day. Don't know if any banging was involved.

Hard Way to Make a Buck

Former public defender gets 3 years for smuggling Cubans

Cigars, not actual Cubans.

This guy was busted in 1996 and just sentenced now? Man, you almost have to plan your interstate crime spree as a child if'n you're going to get sentenced before your Social Security kicks in.

Naw, you can't win men's side with an FB post. Best "fucking" of the day on the FB is hitting from the ladies' tees. Me, I play in the triathlon --- PB, LWK, Timmies. I just use the FB to smack my bitch up, like swinging two bats in the on-deck circle.

And don't respond with a Nigel Tufnel quote, I'm way ahead of you. Ask NFH.

I'll give you two Sting/Annie Lennox tickets for Boston, 12th row from the stage, 4 Van Halen floor seats at Staples Center, and an Orchestra pair for PROJEKT REVOLUTION (Korn, Limp, Snoop) at Hyundai. Ok, I'll throw in my pair for Sonic Youth tomorrow night at the Troubadour (small club in WeHo).

Art opening for Ty

  • Michael Wynne: Pissin' Calvin
    Commerce Street Artist Warehouse
    Opens Saturday, June 12, 7 - 9:30 PM
    Through June. (713) 226-7897
CSAW has a ton of stuff going on opening night and throughout the month.
Now more than ever, I regret not being independently wealthy enough to drop everything and fly to Houston to buy art.

eta: So much for "what's going to happen at ACL stays at ACL," I see. Never mind me -- that's more jealousy talking.

Not so much, but do you know whether he'd give a good price on the large screen TV?

FWIW, I've seen Thurston and/or Kim in a dozen or so different combos, with or without the full band, over the years, and I'll say it's a total crapshoot.

Have alternate plans that evening, because when their on, there's no one better. But when they're off, its nothing more than irritating droning noise* and you'll want to run for the door.
