Back By Popular Demand
The deer are back but there is no one around to appreciate it. Again, eating the apples but not the apricots. And the apricots are in season. I have no idea where all the kids are but they are going to be rally unhappy when they find out they missed the Bambi show.

Is it just me or did this guy completely lose his cool. My friends and I used to launch bottle rockets at eachother all the time. It is not like they can do any serious damage. This guy has a bottle rocket in his cab and he flips his truck? Not a very cool customer. Probably shouldn't be driving a tanker truck anyway.
Bottle rocket hits driver; truck overturns

Manage Alerts | What Is This? ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- A fuel tanker crashed and sprung a small leak early Tuesday after the driver was hit by a bottle rocket as he drove past a group of youths, authorities said.
The driver was seriously injured, and two or three nearby apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution, they said.
The truck struck a curb and a fire hydrant before tumbling down an embankment into a parking lot.
A small amount of fuel leaked from a valve but firefighters quickly contained it, police Sgt. J.L. Hensal said. "The truck stayed pretty much intact," he said.
Police Sgt. Kevin Iosty said no arrests had been made.
The truck driver, Rafael Diaz, had just passed a group of eight to 11 juveniles on the side of the road when one of them fired a bottle rocket into the truck cab, hitting him in the head, Iosty said.
Diaz, 29, of Woodstock, was being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital for serious facial and head injuries, Iosty said.

I've been in my fair share of bottle rocket fights, but if I was hit in the head with a bottle rocket while not expecting it, I might freak a bit, moreso if I was hauling 30,000 gallons of flammable liquid. I would guess that's what happened - the driver was startled and swerved instinctively. Trucks don't handle like cars. Once he swerved, there was too much inertia (or do I mean momentum, Hank?) to overcome. Give the guy a break.

However, a large truck is not easy to turn. Its not like the power steering wheel on a Mercades. And a drivers reflex should not be to crank the wheel far enough to flip the truck when they are faced with an unforseen circumstance. . These drivers of the gas rigs are paid serious money because they get special emergency training and the driving is highly hazaderous. These guys are paid not to panic. Maybe if a kid ran out onto the road, but there was nothing in the road to swerve from. I just don't get the connection between, minor explosion in the car = hard right turn. Why not just brake.

I thought the flip was related to going down an embankment -- sorry, "tumbling down an embankment." It's not hard to turn enough to go off the road, and once you start tumbling . . .
Why are we arguing about this? Don't you have any wildlife stories to tell? Am I going to have to start sharing cat stories?
