Rest assured this troubadour is acting on his part.

AoN, I thought that in most jurisdictions, complaints weren't supposed to identify unliquidated damages. I've always thought that those who list a number were simply trying to attract attention -- something like an invitation by the lawyer for publicity.
Note that this does not go over well in small claims court in Beverly Hills (at least, not when an LA judge is sitting in for an abset Beverly Hills judge). They want to know how the plaintiff came up with the number, which is the maximum anyone can do and be in small claims. They do not like to hear that about 2/3 is "pain and suffering."

ETA I think this redounded to my benefit overall.

Oh, please. I was (mostly) joking. But you've never had something like this happen? "Well, Not Bob is making an, ah, interesting argument on the limitations on consequential damages in contract cases, but I think that his colleague Fenwick's argument in the Shicklegruber case that there are no limits is the correct one. Hey, Not Bob, your folks do nice work. Here's a copy of Fenwick's brilliant brief, Judge."
no. i would bring it into the President of the other side's deposition, and be all like:

"Really, that is your position. Are you aware your counsel here today has taken a contrary position in the In re Two Feral Pigs involved in a trucking accident litigation. I'll ask the reporter to mark as exhibit XX this pleading from the case and ask the witness to read paragraph 17, when you are done my question will be 'are you full of shit, or is your lawyer'"

something like to make him feel uncomfortable (actually I wouldn't do that because i am all about being as agreeable as i can be with opposing counsel, but that is what I would do, if I wasn;t that way)

How very, very tacky.
There are some varieties that turn rust as they age - these probably were pastel pink when they picked them up five days before the wedding, before they stuck them in the back of the hot truck.

And normally they would have gone to get fresh ones (especially since they only cost a few hundred wholesale), but the check had already cleared so there wasn't any point.

So she got the green hydrangeas but not the "dark rust" ones? There's no such thing as dark rust hydrangeas. Except for some green and white ones on the market, they range from blue to pink (and in between, meaning lavendar) depending on the alkalinity/acidity of the soil (Grandma used to put lime with her's to keep them pink. Or was it blue?) But not rust. Unless they are old and dried. Which she would bitch about. This lawyer better take some time off for a walk in Grandma's garden (or anyone's).

(Maybe you could get rust if you soaked them in food color like green carnations?)

The flowers from these hydrangae trees do dry close to a green/rust color. At least the ones in our garden do.

I'm sorry your dog died. How old was he/she and what kind of dog?

They should have thrown Blondie's "Rapture" and the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" in there.

Out comes the man from Mars, indeed. Word.

You know what else doesn't go over well in Beverly Hills? The screwball, not-by-the-book antics of an urban cop with street smarts who is looking into the death of his friend at the hand of an art dealer, who (judging from the coffee grounds in his packing materials), may just be in another type of business as well.

this white person has Hell Yeah on his shuffle, so it is funny that this article says "Hell yeah" early on (not the song, the emotion). Hell Yeah makes me run fast, maybe because it makes me afraid people are looking to rob me.

In the end, that went over really well. I think they invited him back a couple times!

I don't know how the other thing went over and probably won't for at least a couple days.

I can't believe people in Beverly Hills would bother with small claims, or is the limit like $50K?

I have "I'm Not a Player Any More" by Big Pun recently downloaded. Fat Joe's protege. And two Timbaland songs. Both good Running Songs.

But Fergie's "Clumsy" is really good. And "oh what a night" by four seasons used to not be on ITunes and is now.
