Given the date on that comic, I question its probative value. Does the author have anything more current, like say, from today?

Good God. I think you've set a land speed record for becoming defensive and petulant over an issue.

I think most of my PRs are faster than Coltrane's.

Actually, I was talking about how the thread was hijacked -- the Republicanism discussion was earlier.
For the record, nononono assures me that she won't leave me in the lurch for oil magnate, so I've gotten past her party membership. I now consider it to be merely an endearing quirk.

If I may, I'd like to offer constructive criticism- when someone "catches-up" like Bob just did, they should quote the post that the post they quote responds too, particularly when the post is a short retort like SS's. I have no idea what SS's post quoted by notbob meant.
WTTW- this problem is a main reason that lot's of Taxwonk's jokes are lost.
use this as a rule of thumb- 2 hours is too late!

2. This could be a the Time-Space Correllary to the NRZ. Anything older than 2 hours is deemed non-respondable.

I don't like this. If Hank wants to follow threads, he should do the work, or memorize everything. No free rides.

For an NRZ that is placing a lot of responsibility on Hank. Further, i think the rule is meant to keep the discussion lively and moving and relevant. Much like the NRZ.
Perhaps we should have a comment period. thoughts?

I meant it as a suggestion, not a rule. The poster who catches up is free to follow it or not follow it. I merely make the point that it would be helpful. as an example when Wonk gets on his catch-up jags I don't remember fully half of what he responds to. i assume he would like us to admire his cleverness, but to do so I really would be helped by having the pentiultimate post quoted also.

Exactly.
Of course, he *is* a Republican, so naturally he thinks that lassez faire only applies to others, and that he deserves a hand-out.
