Attaboy, Hank. Let the mask slip a little farther. Together, we can take over the world!

So he meant Fairy porn? Do you think he was making reference to your height?

He was making reference to a couple of audits that are nearly complete.
Here are people having the same argument, though I doubt if I were the only person in the world who thought this was sexual, the guy would have gotten strange looks for using the phrase:

See. when you keep going on like this, it makes it harder for me to be out as crushing on you-
and you've obviously googled it, and since you did you know that 95% of the hits say it's golf related.

no they don't, if you google "down to the short strokes" -- they don't say what it relates to.
OK, I will drop, because it's beginning to bore even me, and even though you point out quite the upside to NOT dropping it.

FWIW, you've convinced me it's wrong and I plan to stop using it. From now on I will use the phrase "down to the deep dicking" to indicate that a project or process is near completion.

Not only does your link have no explanation behind why they think it's sexual, but here is the very next link in your own google search, which you clearly ignored on purpose: http://members.aol.com/MorelandC/HaveOriginsData.htm (scroll down to the phrase)
same search, inserting the word, "origin": http://www.joe-ks.com/phrases/phrasesD.htm

Do people really use phrases like

Or else golf-related - i.e. we are no longer driving, but down to the short (putting) strokes.

I'm with Gwinky here. I'd always understood the expression to be golf-related.
Now, I supppose that you could be pissed off because the use of unfamiliar sports metaphors can put female co-workers who are unfamiliar with them at a relative disadvantage. But I don't think it's got anything to do with anything sexual.
That's the problem with you broads. Any time we talk about fun stuff, you just assume we're going all tits & ass on you. Is it that time of the month, Honey?

If it were golf, I would think it would be "we're down to the putting now" or something. Not that I follow golf, but I've never heard any golfball hitting referred to as "stroking," whether it's when you try to hit it a long way, or just a short distance.
gwink, fwiw, I don't think it's sexist, I think it's inappropriately sexual.

Golf is divided into your long game and your short game. The long game is what you play off the tee and down the fairway. It is characterized by longer, lower loft clubs and a full stroke. The short game is what happens within about 60 yards in or closer to the tee. It's where you use clubs like wedges, or shorter clubs and chip, lob, or pitch onto the green, with a short stroke. It mans you're not quite on the green, but the end is in sight and if you play it right, a good short stroke could finish out the hole for you under par.

I forget. Is Pennypacker the Jewish or the Italian side of the family?
