Very good Atticus, very good. Often most of what I post is at least 50% bullshit and the other half is partly embellished, but from time to time, fwiw, I actually go on the record and acknowledge the true reality of the fabulousness of me.

Back in the hippies dayz, on the boulevards of G-town, when I was in my Smiths faze, my bedroom song alternated between "Its Over" and "Last Night I Dreamt that Somebody Loved Me".

In a nod to the vibe that BoL got, my roommate's song actually was Girlfriend in a Coma.

Apropos of none of that, on hazy, lazy, crazy doggie style dayz of summer evening, when the wife and kids are asleep, and I have my deck with a view to myself and there is half a bottle of Delille D2 breathing and waiting to be poured into the crystal to wash down some dilettante chocolate truffles, I might say the Smith's song would be "You've Got Everything Now" (and if BoL had predicted that he would have been hailed as a genius of Nostradamus proportions!). The only thing that would truly make it everything would be strippers with a heart a gold, if you know what I mean <nudge> <nudge> NTTAWWT

The only thing to feel uncomfortable about is finding someone you can trust with a key to your house. I found my cleaning lady by calling a nearby wingnut church and had her come on Saturdays a couple times until I got comfortable with the idea. She has kids in pre-school and kindergarten and cleaning houses gives her more flexibility and money than she'd earn at a lot of part-time jobs. I don't know what I'll do when her kids are both in full-day school and she goes back to her real career of speech therapy.

It's not like she has a pimp who's forcing her to scrub the toilet bowl.
I'm guessing someone needs help with the old sarcasm meter.

I have no trouble hiring help, I don't think it is demeaning. The only reason I haven't thus far is I am a bit nervous about having someone running around inside my home.

Whoops. My bad.

I'm with you and Fugee on the trust issue. That's my hang up. Unfortunately the person I know who does house cleaning lives about 30 miles from me.

Back to my scrubbing bubbles and loads of laundry.

What's the big deal? Just make sure that all of your porno and sex toys (I'm guessing: vibrating eggs, ben wa balls, the jeff stryker strap-on apparatus et al) are locked up in a closet and you are the only one with the key.

Yes, what with all the gay men wandering in and out, a housekeeper running around might cause an accident.

I don't think you're showing proper appreciation for the enormous range of superficial knowledge necessary to Google as I do. You can't simply type "Morrissey bon mot tuxedo Koran" into the search box, you know. You've got to narrow it down a bit first or you'll wind up with too many hits.

Str8, I know you're probably out picking flowers for the wedding or some such, but let me just thank you and your boys and can I say I told you so.

Well, as Idle suggests, all the gay men wandering in and out can be very distracting.

Frankly I was a little more concerned about the electronics, and other valuables, but I guess one could be worried about porn too. And of course, I am worried someone could take off with my pussycats and we couldn't have that.

I was thinking about getting one of those fireproof safes and then I thought gee, how generous of me to gift wrap everything valuable for the burgler in one place. That and I don't think the cats would want to stay in there.

I have a cleaning woman. I got a recommendation from someone in the Firm. I trust her, and I think others mistrust is misplaced. A cleaning woman would be unlikely to take electronics. You'd come home and notice if the TV wasn't there. I don't leave cash lying around, and I don't really have any jewelry (although I suppose she could pocket my cufflinks).

As for bedroom songs...

Let's Get Lost, Chet Baker...or maybe...

clean me

We tried several cleaning services before we actually found people who didn't ruin stuff. We actually liked the "cleaning team" system (ala Maid Brigade, Molly maid etc). They are really fast and 4 people can do the work in like an hour, even while you're there and then they're gone and your place is all smelly fresh. As long as they're bonded, don't worry about them stealing shit, they need the job more than your stuff.

It's just that some of them are careless with the vacuum (hit your furniture, drag that black cord around corners leaving black marks on the walls). One nearly ruined the finish on a black lacquer piece by using the wrong rag. They offered to "fix" it, but it took weeks and lots of different chemicals to get the oily stuff out of the finish. Besides refinishing is not an option on some pieces.

Other than that, they're a lot more careful while you're there. But that was the old days, pre-student-loan days. Ah yes, carefree.
