PLF or Bilmore outed?
from the article:
"It's too bad that somebody would have to do that. Obviously he's got problems."
Board motto?

PLF or Bilmore outed?
Um, hello? Middle-aged attorney "from the suburbs"? It is obviously Bilmore. Speaking of Bilmore, there is a town in West Virginia where the Army Corps of Engineers once a year starts opening the dam in spurts to drain the artifical lake behind it. This causes a kind of limited festival for rafters and, yes, kayakers. The NYT article discusses the clash between the rafting/kayaking set and the locals. One quote caught my eye:
Quote:
Those who come to the Gauley to raft "just have different morals," said Matt Bark, 21, a National Guardsman from Summersville who recently returned from Iraq. "We want to listen to country music, ride our trucks and drink beer. The river rats want to listen to their heavy metal, smoke their pot, and not shave."

Is Matt really describing a difference in morals? Not shaving?

During my entire summer of hanging out with kayakers, I never heard any heavy metal around the campfire or in the bar. Blues and old Dead tapes was more like it. Then again, I never made it to the Gauley. Could be a different crowd down there.

only 16 to go.
Too bad Ivan is going to interfere with this guy's fun ![](http://news.bostonherald.com/images/localRegional/20040917_yahoo_lg.jpg) .
What was that you were saying Slave about the Sox blowing it back in June? The last two weeks have been a wild ride. Hope this series is as good as the earlier series in the Bronx. With the potential for rain outs, will they play a triple-header on Sunday or will someone ask for a forfeit?
Anne
I searched and couldn't find the Slave gloating post from earlier this summer. Probably a good thing since I don't want to jinx the Sox.

Ok, things are getting out of hand here, dtb. This is two posts in a row where you have used an apostrophe instead of a "g". And you're abusing the all-powerful reptile just for laughs.
Everyone is fully aware of the fact that you are the darling of the fb timmy world, and that most of the fb men cherish that picture of your avatar that they keep in their Strunk & White and regularly peak at when their door is closed. But I think you are starting to take us for granted when you submit posts like this. We want posts that show your mellifluous ability with the word, that fully demonstrate your adroit command of the twists and turns grammar may take, and that scale the Faulkneresque heights of linguistic virtuosity. And instead, you're telling us to just keep on walkin' and spend your time dissing a poster who keeps giving.
Please, dtb, please, don't go the way of the Flower.

You are technically correct. 1650 miles to Seattle. 1400 to Boston. But, have you really gotten to the point where you actually bother to log on and post only to point out that a poster has exaggerated a collateral point in his or her post? Is this mundanity the best you can come up with? I think we both know better.
Don't go the way of Greedy, Greedy, Greedy.

I did not shave today. I think we know in which moral camp I fall.
But what about you, Bilmore? You strike me as someone who is openminded about both country and heavy metal. You are the paradigmatic kayaker on the board but you also like big trucks. You enjoy a beer or two, but I suspect you have been tempted by the evil weed on occasion as well. And, as you noted above, you are a compulsive shaver. How can you live with the moral conflict this must cause in you?
