Ivan update

I'm thinking SS might be involved with this somehow. From CNN:
  • In Gulf Shores, the Alabama Gulf Shores Zoo was in shambles, with the waterlogged ground littered with pieces of wood and other debris. Most of the animals were evacuated before the storm, but authorities were looking for several deer and six alligators that hadn't been evacuated and have been seen wading -- or swimming -- around the flooded island.

Among them is "Chuckie," a 1,000-pound, 12-foot-long reptile, and zoo officials spent three hours fruitlessly searching for the animal by canoe Thursday afternoon.

"We cannot send people in to assess more of the damages until we find the big boy," one zoo worker said.

I don't think the judge had pastels in mind when he okayed your "less formal looking suit" request.

The US is down 2-0 (about to be 3-0) and we're all square in one match. So, we could get swept this morning.

How is it that these guys can't seem to play together? You wouldn't think that the ability to play as a team would be so important in these matches, but it's a skill our guys just don't seem to have. Anyone have a theory on this?
For starters, Tiger sucks in the Ryder Cup. A career record (including this morning) of 5-9-2. In fact, only Phil and David Toms have winning records out of all of the Americans.

Next, I agree With Anne that the Americans take it far too seriously, and Cap'n Hal's Bear Byrant cum General Patton approach, complete with over-the-top football metaphors ("Look [Chris Riley], you're a star running back and I'm the best pulling guard you've ever seen.") don't help.

Further, the Euros winning comes as no surprise to me. I took them at +144. The idea that any team that has lost 3 of the last 4 (and embarrassed themselves in their only win) and 6 of the last 9 is a "favorite" is a joke. Go Euros.

New theory. Less apparently fucked all the women* in Europe, infuriating the Euro team, who are now out for blood. Shame on you, Less.

Thank you.

eta: * and perhaps Hugh Grant?

Since the truth will out, here are two of my conquests - Padraig Harrington's wife and Monty's ex before Hugh Grant and I nailed her:

More of my Eurowife conquests, although I am embarassed by at least one of them:

Because I love America, however, I will soon be turning my attention to Phil and Tiger's betties:

How is Ryder Cup team play? There is no easy clear rule page. They play best ball or total combined score? Some page said half play combined half play alternate. Other than best ball, it doesn't seem like "teamwork" would have anything to do with it.

My brother has been sued. In the letter they offered to settle for $4500. In the first phone call it dropped to $3000. While doing some research he discovered that there was an amnesty period, where you could comply with a list of RIAA demands and register. Doing so removed you from their to-be-sued-list. Turns out he complied with amnesty website requirements. Does he have a shot at getting the amount reduced even though he didn't register (didn't know about it)? I know, I know, ignorance isn't a defense, but hey, it's my brother, and he's a good kid who doesn't have $3000.

Here is an explanation of the format - http://www.golfweb.com/tournaments/rydercup/format

Team play can enter into it in two main ways. In alternate shot, one player can try to play his shot to his partner's strength. Mostly, though, it is only through chemistry because, as you allude to, each man is playing his own ball.

Let me add that the Americans are down in three of the four afternoon matches after 9-13 holes (depending upon the match), including Tiger and Phil losing to Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood.

Probably not.

Why not defend him? Answer, send them piles of discovery along with the answer, request open dates for all their execs' depos, demand their proof on his downloading . . . . .

Then offer them a grand.

(Keep in mind I have no idea the real risk of actually trying the case. What do they get if they win? Some per-song amount?)
