I love it. I was wondering who would be the first to whine about some little call. I figured it would be you.
But I see you failed to mention the bullshit call on Wade when he legally boxed out Howard (I think) under the basket when the shot was up -- loose ball foul, my ass. And then the travelling call when neither Heat player had possession? Those gifts were given during the last 90 seconds of the game and Dallas
still couldn't win.
Face it. Wade spanked that ass. Although, the keys to that game were Posey and Haslem. They haven't been hitting those wide open shots for most of the series. Once they started, Dallas had no chance. Also (and God do I hate saying this), without Mourning's inside defensive presence, the Heat lose.
Nowitski (despite good numbers) and Johnson were disappointing. Nowitski disappeared in the fourth (and that includes attempting to pass off to Dampier (what?) during one of the last possessions. Avery Johnson doesn't have a go-to play to get Nowitski a decent look come game time? Ridiculous.
Avery Johnson both over- and under-coached. He under-coached in that he didn't understand that you let Wade go off for 50 during the first three quarters and then send everyone at him in the last ten minutes and make the guys who've been watching him shoot all game hit the game winners. Also, you have to get Dirk involved at the end of the game. Rent Hoosiers and figure out the picket fucking fence, but the way he used him in the fourth was inexcusable.
He over-coached in that the zone he implemented was responsible for Miami's drought in the fourth (yesterday
and Game 5) was yanked in favor of the man-to-man that Wade tore the fuck up during the final few minutes of the game. Different looks that deep into the series to create confusion? I don't think so. And if you're going to do that, do it the opposite way since the Heat looked confused and forced up bad jumpers whenever the zone was on. Stupid.
For all of everyone's talk of Dallas' talent (and they are a very very good team), they are still basically a jump-shooting team. And in the playoffs, you live and die with the jump shot.
Next year: If Miami doesn't sign a point guard, they're not going past the second round of the playoffs. Williams and Payton suck.
Stuart Scott can suck it. But that's not news.
