More Michael commentary

This was just viscious and funny, so I had to share.

Speaking of which, Queer Eye was fantastique last night. That guy's resemblance to David Bowie after the makeover was pretty scary. They seemed like the happiest post-makeover family ever.

Your doorman, and your building, has fuck-all to say about it. The FCC has enacted regs that preclude condo and homeowners' associations from enacting or enforcing certain rules inhibiting the installation of OTA reception devices of one meter or less in diameter. In 1999, it clarified that the rule applies to rental property, to the extent you wish to install the dish on any portion of the property to which you have exclusive access, such as any balcony or patio. Of course, you can't force the landlord to let you install it on common areas like the roof or to drill through the exterior walls of the building, but if you tell em you're putting it on the patio, em (1) can't stop you; and (2) might agree to a roof or wall installation for aesthetic reasons once em realizes em can't stop you.
Cool. But that ain't going to help. No patios or balconies.

Next question: If my apartment is big enough, has plenty of southern exposure with great access to the sky, what's to stop me from just putting it inside my apartment next to a window I rarely go near (besides tackiness, of course)? Will it give me a tumor? Will my boys' swimming abilities be curtailed?

What's to stop you from sticking it outside the window & running the cord in under the sash?

(Anyone watching?)

Did see that. Only thing they missed was giving him some tanning product for the parts of his face they shaved that hadn't seen the sun in a decade...

He looked a lot like Bowie, and a little bit like Don Henley when he had the shades on. A true straight guy for all seasons, a postal worker who enjoys playing guitar, singing the blues (far better than the professional musician they had on before), fishing, hunting and stuffing dead animals... Great house, too.

The pictures of him as a 70's male model were pretty funny. The Fab 5 thought he looked like an extra from Magnum PI... I was thinking more 70's porn star with big hair and pornstache.

Phoebe Cates is way hotter (or was, back then) though I saw her in some movie fairly recently in which she played a mom and was kind of not impressed. Nonetheless, I go for her. She seems like a person and not plastic-y. She's more unusual-looking, maybe.

I don't know about TM, but my neighbors called the police the last time I did this. May have had something to do with shouting "Woo, woo!" while doing so. What's the cord for?

Anyone not doing anything tonight and want to go to a Premiere in Westwood of a major Hollywood Studio motion picture? I can bring a guest and the wife is in class.

Let me know through PM, I guess.

Don't know for sure, but I think there are some Internet resources for DTV technophiles with tips about what kind of energy-retaining window coatings, bug screens, etc. will degrade the signal. You should check those out before getting disappointed with signal levels through your particular window. Mebbe DTV will send out an installer to measure the signal for you. I'm almost certain they'll let you cancel without obligation if you can't get a sufficient signal. (Duh.)

I recommend the AVS forum, esp. the tivocommunity.com forum. They're nerdy, helpful, and only occasionally cruel to newbies. Yours will not be regarded as an unusual question.

Won't that just get him slammed for not reading and asking the same question everyone always asks? Or are my norms for flaming skewed by hanging around here?
