I cannot believe I have to explain this to you. Dating outside of your race does not make you self loathing. Dating exclusively outside of your race does, at least in Jun's case, but mostly, yeah. Did you give up white men for lent, or are you just in love with your current man bc of who he is?

or perhaps he does not realize that eventually, with age and a few babies, every woman will look like his mom?

Though I have spoken to more than one person who explained, in varying tones of shrillness, how the cultural phenom of snuff films showed the evil of men generally, yadda yadda yadda. None of them claimed ever to have seen one either.
This is a question that has plagued me for as long as I've been working on this brief that I really don't want to write and haven't had anything else to think about much.

I've never seen one and never been offered the chance. Of course, I have to say that I truly hope I don't know anyone who is a fan of them well enough to get invited.
Edited to say I feel the same way about cock fights, dog fights, and political torture.

Well, let's just say I don't consider her "hot".
(And I'm comfortable with that.)

I have not been this excited since paigow agreed to have my mother's face tatooed on her back.

The dead guy's family went all crazy and left the Amish to be Mennonites. If Mennonites can drive cars, they can use paintguns, I guess. Though what this world is coming to when the Amish let their kids intermingle with those sinful Mennonites is terrifying to contemplate. . . .

Paintball guns are okay, but they can only buy the black or white paintballs. None of them "worldly" rainbow colors.
(It makes it real hard to tell who's been hit, though.)

I dated this guy who has family who are Mennonites (and Hutterites, but they are a different ball of wax altogether). He was not an "ite". In any event, apparently there is vast drug usage among the Mennonite youth. Not sure if this is also characteristic of the Amish. Anyway, all of this is probably meaningless, just to say that these aren't your father's Amish (or Mennonites etc). Marijuana is said to be a gateway to tomato throwing, btw. I read it somewhere.

You were, darling. But once the fur started growing back, it looked like Mom had a beard. And that's just disturbing.

I'm gonna have to agree with Pags on this one, for the most part. Yes, it's self-loathing not to date within your own race. We call these people twinkies. Jun and Jee, like myself, are Korean. And Jun does have a point about Korean guys (and by "Korean" I really mean Korean-American). Many (if not most) of them do tend to want to date "good girls" who go to church, take care of the man, and never swear. Needless to say, I haven't dated many Asian men (which is not to say that I wouldn't). That said, it is a huge generalization for Jun to say that all Korean guys or all Asian guys are like this. I think Jun is just going through a twinkie phase and she'll get over it. Plus, a lot of Asian guys wouldn't date a girl that big (by Asian standards, she's really fat). But at least she's dated Asian guys in the past. I know some Asian chicks who categorically have never and will never date an Asian man. I think that's about as fucked up as being a rice daddy.

There was a documentary on the Amish that came out last year at Sundance, and I think that Showtime bought it. Anyhow, Amish kids get a year to decide whether or not they're going to stay Amish, and they sort of get thrown out into the real world to figure it out. From the documentary, they go a bit crazy with booze and drugs for a year, but most of them come back to the fold. I think it was called Devil's Playground or something like that.
Edited to add link to NPR description of the movie: http://www.npr.org/programs/morning/...ish/index.html
