One of your law school classmates sees you at the Harvard Club having lunch with two shareholders and an associate from the Schicklegruber firm.

If you are close enough to talk, don't worry about the source. I guarrantee you that they won't care how you found out.
I talked to her. She lied. Denied looking. Said she is happy and that the "info" must be wrong. [sigh]

You sound like a bitter hostile partner-never-be. Why so angry that you could write so many words that you know are unhelpful but are meant just to be spiteful and insulting?

Dude, how the hell did you let yourself get picked for a jury?

That said, the Kings County civil court jury rooms don't even have windows or chairs, much less internet access. Jury rooms here fuckin' suck.

An excellent question, considering that I always get out of jury duty on the basis that I'm not a citizen. Str8, when did you go over to the dark side?

These two have the right idea

Those Canadians with their mad hot accents and their fuckin' weird country. That said, some people from New Orleans do sound exactly like they're from Brooklyn, and I'd pit a good Newfie accent against any other for sheer incomprehesibility.

But I knew Canadians were in Europe. Goddam socialists.

I know this is a very long excerpt, but it's funny and it demonstrates yet another reason why the world loves Canada:

From "overheard in ny"

Ghetto girl #1: ...so I was talkin' to that guy and his accent was so fuckin' hot--guys from there have accents for whatever--and I'm like, "Yo, why you got an accent? You only live like 20 miles away." I was like, "Nigga, what the fuck is up with havin' an accent and bein' from Louisiana?" He then be lookin' at me like I swallowed my own piss.

Ghetto girl #2: You so stupid. His accent be the thing that make you want him. You so stupid. Know why? I don't think he even had an accent; you probably thought he was from Jamaica or something. Just because he black. You a bad liar too. People from Louisiana can't have accents. That's for people from different parts of the world, like the Canadians in Europe. Canada's such a fuckin' weird country, but they got hot accents. If you from Louisiana, you sound just like you do if you from New York, and if you from New Jersey. If you from Canada, you sound mad different, because it's on the other side.

Ghetto girl #1: Well nah, I knew Canada was overseas...but they ain't got accents. I'm tellin' ya though, this fuckin' Louisiana guy has a fuckin' accent...and it's not even as far as Canada...Louisiana is a drive away; it's fuckin' nuts. I just wish I could make out with him so that I could feel his fuckin' Louisiana lips, but then I guess I be wrong, he can't be from Louisiana. So I guess I'ma dream of kissin' him when we be in Canada. It's across the world and great.

Bystander guy: The sad thing about this is that you two will probably become teachers.

Long time lurker here with a workplace Q that could be outable, which is y I am using the Anon.

Let's say one works at a small organization/firm and while not an owner/partner, is senior enough that the person has some amount of hiring/firing power over her direct underlings (junior associates/paralegals/assistants etc.). And now let's say she finds out, surreptitiously through one of her many professional contacts or otherwise, that one of those underlings is interviewing, hard, for another job, which gap in the staff will leave said person with a pita.

What does she do with the info?

Anon b/c potentially outable
Ask yourself why your place is so suckass that the Underling is interviewing so hard.

Didn't you answer your own question? I am bitter and hostile. (But it's more like bitter, hostile partner-never-wanna-be.)

Besides, I knew who you were when you posted and wanted an excuse to tell you you had no balls.

Big Brother's Holly Beheaded!

Or not.

http://forums.go.com/abc/primetime/i...1&forumStart=0

Apparently Ms. King has posted on her own website (www.hollyking.com, I believe) that her head is still attached to her body. Though a brain transplant might help her out a bit.

Hasn't made its way to snopes.com yet, but it is only a matter of time (apparently the message has been posted on various internet fora).

I'm just fulfilling my one day of "show up and see if you get panelled." Though actually, with my particular lame-duck job situation, aside from the waking up early, being on a jury wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And my employer wouldn't be able to say or do shit about it.

As of 11:10, the collective courts in this building have requested zero jury panels. But if and when my name comes up, I don't plan to try to actively get out of it.

WHOA, they're calling one. I wonder if I'm up?

I got my citizenship in May. Stupid decision, perhaps, but I want to be able to root for a winner in Bejing (to say nothing of having a team in Germany 2006).
