And the Catman is a muslim cleric and Madonna is a Kaballah jew.

What's next?

Ted Nugent the vegetarian Hindu?

I am sorry, but the "catman"? Do you really have such fond feelings for cat stevens that you have given him a little nickname? Hard headed woman was a great great song, but overall, it was all a bit Sarah McLaughlin for me.

Your liver's croaked from all the booze and drugs and your kids say you embarrass them at the mall and you're reduced to trolling for babes from the heroin-head-blowzy-hooker contingent instead of from the supermodel class, what the hell else are you going to do to excess?

Britney moving. YAY!

Oct. 16 — Looks like Britney Spears may be the next disillusioned American blonde to cross the pond.
THE EX-TEEN VIXEN (ex-teen or ex-vixen?)— who has taken a public relations drubbing lately — is said to be “quite taken” with London and is planning to set up home there, much like Gwyneth Paltrow and Britney’s new best gal pal, Madonna. “She’s been looking at places in and around London,” says our source, who adds that Madonna has been instrumental in Britney’s newfound Anglophile-status. “First, the snogging, (WTF?) then the Kabbalah, now this,” says the source of Madonna’s influence over Britney. “Of course, she has strong ties in the U.S. and will still keep her places there.”(Damn).

Dealkillers again

Would it be wrong to dealkill a guy for having a southern accent and referring to me as a Yankee? While using words like peripatetic and being prone to renaming every re line even after I passive aggressively implied that it is really not an endearing habit, if he is a really sweet and cutish guy? Why do people have to rewrite re lines on every email anyway? Is it a control thing? Is he anal? Does he have to try that hard to be funny? is it all a bad [JOKE]? Is this just the beginning of a lifetime of stting at the proverbial coffee table reading the NYT while he cracks his knuckles and chews gum? Am I just too shallow here?

Ambition and relationships

What I dont get is the importance many women place on their men having this ambition and passion about their career and why being passionate about you r mate isnt more important. is this a mars-venus thing? Women are attracted to the caveman with the biggest club, who can be the most protective, and brings in the most kill? I must be missing something.

Can yall provide enlightment?
First, what, exactly does she want you to be passionate about? The practice of law--doing research, analyzing facts, spotting issues, making the argument? Or the whole career concept--making partner, going inhouse, dream of starting own firm? Two entirely different things.

I'd be more forgiving of the first before the second.

It's very possible that she has no idea what the actual practice of law entails, and a lot of times its hard to get passionate about document review or stupid clients who won't do what you tell them to do or analyzing a lease or whatever the day-to-day practice of law entails. TV shows constantly talk about laywers who "love the law" and then rigorously defend the poor-immigrant woman who will be deported if the lawyer doesn't save her. (Sorry, saw the pilot of the Lyon's Den recently...) Every now and then, at least for me, it does get interesting and it will consume me for the duration of a particular project.

I can understand wanting to be with someone who has a passion for everything that he or she does, or at the very least likes it. Why waste the majority of your time on something that you don't like very much when there are other things out there that you do like? If it's the money, then why aren't you doing everything you can to get to the top for the most money possible? For most of us, the answers to these questions are fairly intuitive, based on the realities of the practice of law, but for someone who hasn't had the benefit of reading and fully understanding Thurgreed's parody from yesterday, it may be a little more difficult to grasp.

Also, the lay public wants the lawyers in our society to be rigorous in our representation of our clients, and if we're not passionate, how can we be rigorous? So I can understand if a lay person makes the assumption that most lawyers are passionate about practicing law, so why not this guy? Frankly, I'd want a doctor that I were dating to love what he did, and most of the doctors that I know do love what they do.

Yes, I get all misty during the ending of "Father and Son". And I always listen to "If you want to sing out, sing out" to cheer me up whenever the Dems win a local election.

And it's McLachlan. Unless she recently replaced Elenor Clift on the McLaughlin group and I somehow missed it.

Note to our Minnesotan friends, this probably means there's gonna be a big garage sale soon of his "purple tightfitting pants with the ass missing" collection.

Brits

LONDON, Oct 16 — More than half of Britons could have breath that smells worse than their pet’s, according to a survey released Thursday. And women are the worst offenders, with three out of five failing a sulfur emissions test, according to research by toothpaste manufacturer Aquafresh.
“SOME MOUTHS may be dirtier than cat litter,” dentist Brian Grieveson said in a statement that accompanied the research.
“Most people in the UK do not realize that cleaning your tongue is as important as cleaning your teeth,” he added.
Scots had the best oral hygiene, with only 10 percent suffering bad breath, compared with 27 percent in London. Throughout the nation, 52 percent were rated at a level that could be worse than that of a pet animal.
“We are one of the last countries to understand the need to clean our tongue, with people in America and parts of Europe practicing tongue cleaning routinely,” said Grieveson.
Secretaries were the freshest profession, achieving 100 percent freshness in the survey of 1,000 people, while retail staff fared worst and received the warning: “You could be losing sales.”

your breath stinks

OK, dirtier than cat litter? Come on, nothing is dirtier than cat litter (Hi Thrasher!).

Please, don't give Bilmore any ideas. Nobody needs to see that.
