I thought they must have been PM'ing you, because I wanted them to respond to you on the board so I could pick up a few tips.

hmmpf. Usually PLF and his ilk salivate at this kind of plea. Maybe you'll have to show them your tits.

You'll need some John Denver. Rocky Mountain High and Sunshine on My Shoulders are good standbys. You'll need the whole Christmas album he did with the Muppets here pretty soon, so you might as well go ahead and download that, too.

Fight Club Meets Resevoir Dogs Meets, ah, Dog Excrement.

From Query Letters I Love:
  • Contest 2: Pick your fave line in this query!
"I would like to submit the details of my screenplay for your consideration.

LOGLINE: A picked-on teen with fiery revenge fantasies finds friendship in a ring of arsonists-for-hire. This turns into a fight for his life when one by one his fellow lighters go up in smoke.

SYNOPSIS: Forced by a neighborhood jock to eat dog excrement, 18-year-old Eric is about to torch his tormentor's car when a stranger steps out of the shadows and introduces himself. Neil is a former soldier who runs Lighters, a small group of arsonists for hire. Neil teaches Eric how to handle fire and manage his pyromaniac impulses. He welcomes Eric into his circle, where the young man finds the friendship he's been missing. When another member of Lighters argues with Neil over payment, the man goes up in flames on his next job. Eric discovers that Neil booby-trapped his friend Torch's equipment. Eric warns the remaining two members of the group that Neil is a serious threat. They break away, but Neil murders Eric's companions as they sleep. Eric is tied to a chair listening to Neil explain what he's about to do to him with napalm when he manages to escape - only to be arrested by a detective who believes Eric committed Neil's crimes. Now how will Eric get the napalm out of Neil's hands before he uses it?

LIGHTERS gives an inside look into the world of arson from the arsonists' point of view. May I send you a copy?"

Flinty, I'm telling you. Get rid of the booby-trap thing, and Universal will fucking kill for this! Call me.

I'll think about it, but my artistic sense demands booby traps, or perhaps just more boobies. I still want Frankie Muniz to play me in the movie, but only if Haley Joel is too spendy, thanks.

I'd like to go on record as objecting to nightfall at 5:09 PM or earlier.

I'd like to go on record as objecting to frustrating hormonal ups and downs.

Some of Sebby's cookies will smooth that right out for you.

Or you could go home and breathe some more of those paint fumes.

I know!! I thought this was the perfect place to pose such a question, but alas, plf was not exactly overly forthcoming with appropriately hip recommendations.

Thank you ncs, for your suggestions. I have Lose Yourself on (what I am now hiply referring to as) my play list. I like Just Lose It also. I am slightly abashed to admit that I also like the new Avril Lavigne output (it's not a record, and not really a CD -- it's ON MY COMPUTER -- OMG!!).

I also downloaded some songs that I already have on CDs, but it's nice to have them handy when I'm paying bills or whatever on my home computer.

Neither of those sounds as fun as what I'm thinking about.

Eminem:

Encore [I've only heard the following two songs from this album]
  • Mosh
  • Just Lose it

The Eminem Show
  • Business
  • Cleaning Out My Closet
  • Square Dance
  • Soldier
  • Without Me
  • Superman
  • When the Music Stops
  • My Dad's Gone Crazy

8 Mile
  • Lose Yourself
  • 8 Mile Road
  • Rabbit Run

Marshall Mathers LP
  • Kill You [You may not like this one]
  • Stan
  • The Way I am
  • The Real Slim Shady

Slim Shady LP
  • My Name Is
  • Guilty Conscience

I left off a bunch on the last two albums because I'm not sure you'd like them. But if you likes most of what I listed (and can get past the misogyny and homophobia, which may take you some time), you should give all his stuff a listen. He really is an amazing lyricist. He finally convinced me that he was one of the best with "FixyourbentantennaetuneitinandthenI'mgonna" (sung to the tune of the old Batman theme that goes nuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuh) on the Without Me track.

Your record speaks for itself on this one and it's saying: Covered, comprehensively.

Is serotonin a hormone? That wasn't what I was referring to, but OK.

Actually, through no fault of my own I ended up with a six-pack of Coors Light in my fridge a few weeks ago. I'm a big fan of microbrews, but, eventually, as it does, the real beer ran out, and I have to say the Coors wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I'm just sayin' ...
