At the risk of possibly offending the purists, you should be able to accomplish basically the same thing in your standard weber grill (gas grills are for people who do not want to grill).

But they'll probably make me pay for it. With money. The one I ate was free, if you don't count suffering the company as a cost.

Re: To fuck or to cook?

Does anybody have a good braised cabbage recipe? Preferably something that includes mustard and apple cider. I had a great mustard-y and cider-y braised cabbage at a restaurant last weekend and now I want to try to make it at home, but I can't find a recipe online that sounds similar to what I had, or that has a lot of positive reviews. Help me.

Come to my party in the first week of December, then. We serve this and this. And lots of other stuff.

Gas grills are also for people who don't want to wait around 30 mins. for the coals to get to the right temperature.

But I have both for when I'm not in a hurry.

They are okay for small pieces of fish that you want to have a slight smoky flavor or for things that you want to render inedible. Anything you would want to do with a stovetop smoker can be better done with some wood chips on a Weber kettle. And don't tell me about the cold; that actually helps you when smoking, because it helps keep the temperature down in the kettle, which is essential for good smoking.

I would count suffering the host as a cost. That's why I fed him from half a country away.

We used to have the smaller version of that. Back when we had outdoor space and a garage to hold it. Now we have a crockpot, a one bedroom apartment and a walk to the beach. Tradeoffs.

Ooooh, look at me, I'm in LA and it's sooo sun-neee all the time, aren't I special!

Wrong board. The sun-bunny board is elsewhere.

(Sidd is mildly cranky today, for work-related reasons* that will hopefully work themselves out soon.)

*No, Hank -- I haven't been sued for malpractice. Another bullet dodged.

I'm usually mildly cranky, but the reasons vary.

It's warm, too, and we are special.

I am making sort of chicken piccatta (sp?) tonight. Anyone have hints?
