If you are very thin and have a high pitched voice exacerbated by a speech impediment, do not stand near my office talking about carbs.

Speaking of which, did anyone see MacEnroe's admission that he'd been "fed" steroids? I'm assuming someone just snuck them into a tasty snack without his knowing, like you do with dog medicine...
ETA, in case any of you represent Ms. Capriati, that I'm sure she just works out a lot with weights.

A friend grew up in a family in which a vijay was called a "chuni" (when it was spoken of at all). She said she had to stop watching "ER" when they introduced a nurse of the same name, because she found it so distracting. I told her it's too bad she hadn't called it a "Doug," because then she would never have gotten into the show in the first place.
In retrospect, I could have gone with "Morganstern," but I find "Doug" is just an inherently funny name.

The field was quite deep at The Sony. She is a girl (read: not a woman at the top of her game). She is a child. Unfuckingbelievable.
If she had made the cut, it could be argued that it would have been the most impressive thing ever to happen in the modern history of sports. I'm floored that it isn't being talked about that much. Floored.

What's to say, really? It's phenomenal, and I suspect it's just the beginning. I bet she finishes top 10 in a PGA event before she turns 20. Want to raise me? Top 10 in a major? Winning a PGA event? Winning a major?
That said, the most impressive thing ever to happen in the modern history of sports is Ben Johnson's 9.79. Oh wait, never mind. How about the fact that the first time I ever went golfing (par 72 course in Connecticut in 1996), on the first par 3, I skulled a 7 iron off a tree to the fringe, and chipped it in for birdie?

It wouldn't even be the record today, legal or not.
Still impressed by McGwire's 70 HRs? Or Bonds' 73HRs. Oh wait, never mind.

No way. Pitching talent is so diluted these days.
Oh wait, never mind.

Tax and maid question

With the exception of the sexual favors, we just say clean, and they do. But the IRS seems to think that maids in the house qualify for their regs.
Maybe I should call Justice Breyer to get a ruling.

Or you could assume that unless you are appointed to the federal bench or run for office within the next three years that unless you are engaged in a whole lot of other tax shenaningans shit that nobody will ever find it and if they did it isn't worth auditing you over.
Assume that the helpers are her independent contractors and you are paying her on a cost-plus basis. Thererore you have no witholding or reporting obligation.
With respect to the sexual favors, if they are there primarily to clean, the sex is a gift. Unless said maid is in-fucking-credible, it is highly unlikely that the sex is worth more than the $10,000 gift exclusion. Consequently, there would be no gift tax due, with respect to which you could have secndary transferee liability.
Tax(and they say corporate guys cna't do individual tax)wonk

It is a breathtaking sight to behold. get to a tv. I have never been so filled with longing and despair at once in my life.

I defy anyone to find a hotter man in the universe. remember that he is six foot four, with an oustanding bod and perfect martini glass chest hair. oh my god.

For someone recently engaged, you are acting distressingly obssessed with the tennis dude. I'd at least pretend to be madly in love until the honeymoon's over. It's the polite thing to do.

But if her name is Charity does she need to acknowledge there's no quid pro quo?

Single greatest sports moment, Canada wins 1998 Women's curling gold Medal on a phenom throw. Canada skip Sandra Schmirler is facing a blocked in Swedan stone, that gives Swedan the gold if left in the house. Sandra's sweepers have just stunk up the place the whole end, leaving two Swedan draws protecting the stone. She is down to her last stone, and facing keen ice.
Somehow, she puts enough delivery into the hammer to curl it around the draws, and knocks the Swedan rock out of the house, leaving her own, and earning the gold.
Nothing I've seen since can beat that.

Two questions:
1. Could she ever compete in the men's division? and
2. How was her uniform?
