No wonder everyones loves you. YOu stay ahead of the trends....we bought them for both my kids.

they are totally cute.

AoN is JLo on dancing with the stars? I don't watch but is that the beginning of the end for her being on a B list show?

I wear high heels pretty much all the time too. In fact, the Brazenette had to answer a survey about her mother recently at pre-school, and her answer to "My mother always..." was "wears high heels". (My favorite food is squash, my favorite color is orange, and my favorite person is the Brazenette!).

But I like those little slip-on things for when I travel. Which has been altogether too often for my taste for the past 18 months or so...

Just remember, when I advised you on paint I gave you alternatives, woman, not "ahhhh no". The THANKS I get!
I generally get that sort of shoe at my local outdoor outfitter. They stock up on brands like Merrell, Ex Officio, Born, Dansko, Keen, Anhu, J-41 and Clarks.

My current favorite brand of casual shoes is Pikolinos, though they may be a little pricer than you'd want for wandering around Chuck E Cheese.

Tsubos? All the Tsubi hits were for an Australian jeans company.

Miz Mooz are cute too.

Slow food is really just a bunch of hype. The notion of cooking from fresh, local ingredients in creative and individual recipes is alive in everything from Le Bernardin to the local taqueria where they simmer the weekend menudo all night long.

Portland is a great city for fresh ingredients and creative local chefs, but I challenge the idea that there is any more of a slow food influence there than there is in Des Moines, on a proportionate basis.

I generally agree. That said, "Slow Food Portland is the oldest convivium in the country (1991) and still among the largest. "

Cite.

Of course, the use of the word "convivium" makes the whole deal rather suspect.

Oh, and check out Title 9, Garnet Hill, and J. Jill.

My sister (who is 5'10", probably 130 pounds, and gorgeous) was surprised to learn that her son believes that her favorite color is brown, her favorite food is lettuce, and that she weighs "a lot."

What did he do early in the season that one might fault for their poor record? Honest question -- I wasn't following the team closely, so I don't know. My sense is that it was exactly his decision to stay the course that let the team find itself again -- not panicking or overreacting, and sticking with his veterans. Another manager might have tried too hard to do something, and made things worse. Here too, the informed views of someone who was more actively watching the Yankees would be more interesting than what I have to say.

this post got me thinking, does anyone here know anybody in the refuse industry? I mean in the trenches, not someone at the tony Soprano level.

This morning is garbage day, and it rained all through last night. I always feel sort of bad on that combination, because I put out bags of newspaper and cardboard for recycling the night before. I imagine the recycling guys are lifting about 300% of the normal weight from all the entrained water on a rainy day. They must really dread it.

The trash guys, it's not such a problem. The water rolls off the bags, and plus they don't have to sort glass/plastic/metal in the rain.

Do the recycle guys make more than pure trash guys? It seems like they should, because their jobs are arguably more skilled with the sorting and also harder with the water weight.

Plus, it seems like the pure trash guys are a leg up in that they can pick up any good stuff people throw out, like electronics or furniture, or can a recycle guy cross that invisible line and garbage pick good stuff even though it's not their area. Maybe they trade off the rights because some people recycle dirty magazines probably?

Anyone know.

Well, if you're talking NW influence, then I guess you'd have to try Columbia. With a faux chinchilla lining.

How often do you think people mix body parts in with the recycling?

we get police rewards here for finding bodies, so that doesn't balance anything, unless, do you know if the companies keep the haulers reward monies?

I usually hate "comfortable" shoes but these are pretty cute. Perhaps I shall purchase some. With real chinchilla lining though.
