Here's something relevatory: if you have the chance to run the Boston Marathon and it's 86 degrees out...don't. Just don't.

Is "clowning" the new "banging" and if so, why?

Heh. Dad now knows too. He turned a little white when he was told, but otherwise, he took it fairly in stride. I'm sure that the timing of his next drink order was purely coincidental.

My sister probably thinkg of this as a little bit of payback. When one of my sibs was in biology class in ninth grade and they got to the reproduction section, the teacher asked if anyone could imagine their parents having sex. My sib was the only one to raise their hand.

I find that a slow braise in a red wine/ veal demi-glace reduction with fresh thyme works well, too. But you have to use white onions. The yellow spanish onion aren't pungent enough to overcome the gameyness.

Special for dtb

Your new heroine was interviewed on NPR this morning to talk about her book, and Bob Edwards confessed to his punctuation crimes.

Yeah. But she wouldn't swallow. I guess it was all that skepticism.

She married Hank Azaria, who is also widely believed to be gay. The two were explained as being each others' beards. Not that I have any direct knowledge of either person's sexual proclivities, nor that I care. Unless Helen is straight and sitting next to me in a hotel bar, asking if I'd like to repair to her suite for some oysters and nookie.

Obscuring

Is anyone else finding it difficult to read the FB because it is all covered in some kind of viscous substance? There's also a faint, weird bleachy odor.

Oooooooh, it's from all the wanking.

Okay, I don't know names yet. The mom who was pushing her son to go back to modeling, etc. in Florida was cracking me up. The way she was encouraging people to try to get his autograph and she kept telling them that he already cut an album and he will be the next Backstreet Boy or whatever. The kid put up with her remarkably well, other than the occasional eye roll.

The only kid with any discernable talent from what I saw yesterday was the black 8 year old girl from LA. It seems like she can act. And her mom (who toured as a dancer with Hammer) wasn't too bad on last night's show, but I am reserving judgment until I've seen a couple more episodes.

It is on Bravo right after Queer Eye. It follows 5 or 6 families that are involved in one form or another of show business. Some of the parents were only mildly crazy, but there is this one pageant mom who is so insane that she started ranting about how the little girl who won (5 year old) over her daughter didn't deserve anything good to happen to her, etc. right in front of her 4 year old "loser" daughter. One would hope that someday the woman will view this show and realize what a fucking whackjob she appears to be in it. I doubt she'll come to her senses before her daughter is irreparably scarred however. And, Sidd, I don't think that the cameras following her made her a complete loon, I think they might have even prevented her from whacking her kid at least once when she appeared to want to because the 4 year old was tired and didn't want to get up to make herself "pageant pretty".
Do not perpetuate that madness. Those people are mentally ill. Vicarious my ass. No 5 year old should be forced to wear fake teeth, pounds of makeup and a can of hairspray.

It relates to the infamous circus clowns infamous routine with the infamous clown cars, i.e. the old in out in out. Its actually a very mid-90s term that is seeing a renaissance in our very own day and age.

BoooooooiiinnnnGGG!

That sounds exactly like the mother in Douglas Coupland's (Canadian, fyi) Miss Wyoming. Insanely competitive using her five year old. Fucks kids up.

I'm not trying to squelch your creativity. Although, repetitive, I read your stuff because it's amusing. What seems so strange to me about you, is that it feels like you really do believe your absolutes and stereotypes. When other posters say ridiculous things to show how strongly they feel about something, the hyperbole is a tool. Maybe it's just me, but I really think you walk around town placing people in all sorts of ready-made, strict, stereotypical mental boxes based on what they drive or drink or whatever. That's nuts.

And when I counter these classifications by saying, for example, that I would buy a Cooper Mini and I don't think I match the stereotype you're describing, you reject what I am (and a number of other people here are) saying, reflexively.

Of course, this isn't and shouldn't keep you from saying whatever you want, whenever you want. It's pretty clear that I'm as full of shit as you are -- just in a different way. I'm just making an observation.
